Solo

Solo is on Korte Koningsstraat, on the canal just east of Nieuwmarkt. Being slightly off the tourist trail gives it a relaxed, quiet mood, which is exactly what makes it such a find. It was once called Waeghals, and later Stix.

There's room for about fifteen people in comfortable booths, and the big window looks straight onto the canal. Grab the table by the window and you have one of the nicest views of any coffeeshop in town.

The staff are friendly, speak several languages and are happy to help first-timers. Solo has picked up several awards, prices are fair, and the homemade space cake gets excellent reviews. Open daily from 10:00 to midnight.
