Day one
We took the train from the airport into Amsterdam. Wow!
We landed at Schiphol airport, Amsterdam Schiphol Amsterdam Airport, a very pleasant airport. We went down to the lower floor and took the direct train to Amsterdam. A city that feels like walking into a scene from Alice in Wonderland

We arrived in Amsterdam

Coffeeshop
We dropped our things at the hotel and did not waste a minute there. We headed straight for our first coffeeshop for something good and fun. The coffeeshop is called Green House. We bought weed called White Widow (sativa), which really wakes you up.

The munchies
After something good to smoke come the munchies, and the first place we would point you to is called Stroopwafel. This is a waffle out of the movies; there is nothing like it at home. Watch the video and you will see what we mean.

A good head
After a coffeeshop and a good feed, we went to a museum built around a fascinating world of sound and technology AMAZE A journey through 7 different interactive environments in a completely immersive audiovisual space.
A mad party
Press play on the video and see for yourself. We really do recommend trying new things. You have come all the way to Amsterdam, so go to the unusual places. Usually when we fly abroad we go to restaurants, bars, exhibitions and so on. Our advice: try new things. It is good for the two of you as well. Do things you will remember fondly.
In the evening we were at a very unusual restaurant-party. We took the recommendation from Puffit; it is a strange and delicious restaurant. In one sentence: you have never been anywhere like it.
A chef's restaurant: you start with a meal and end up inside a party
Maya surprised me. She had bought two tickets to the restaurant; you have to book ahead, as it is a chef's restaurant. When we arrived the experience began. Maya said to me, do you see there are tables like a normal restaurant? I said yes. And do you see there are beds around the restaurant? I said yes, and asked, what is that? Maya told me we would not be sitting around a table like a normal restaurant, we would be lying on beds. It sounds very odd, but it will surprise you.

Day two
We woke to a new day, in Amsterdam!
The hotel we chose serves breakfast, and it has everything. Eat something before you head out into Amsterdam: there is a great deal of walking, and short train rides too. There is no point taking a hotel with all-inclusive or half board; we did all of that outside the hotel.

A morning selfie
You know the people who post a photo of themselves inside a private jet? Here is a fine place for photos, and a cool spot besides Upside Down. After that we went to a coffeeshop called Prix d'ami For those interested, we bought a weed called Dyzer.

The munchies
There is a place called Van Stapele Koekmakerij Cookies, When you get there you will see an enormous queue for a single cookie. It is an ordinary cookie and so good that the queue was worth it.

Had a smoke? Try this
After Maya and I smoked a good joint, we went to a place called Our House, (there are no words) just watch the video.

Eat the chips
Amsterdam is known for its chips, and these are not just another McDonald's portion. These are chips of a high order with wild toppings. We recommend eating atManneken Pis Damrak. It is cheap and good too.
So after a day full of tasty, cool, fun things, we went to a museum called NXT
When we got to the museum we arrived a little stoned, and it matters to me to say that you really do not have to smoke a joint first. We simply flew to Amsterdam for a slightly different trip; we wanted to try new things and have fun. The place is full of light, music and any number of psychedelic touches. The feeling at the NXT museum was simply wild. And there is nothing like ending an evening in a place like that, knowing that tomorrow is only the third day of our trip. It is not over yet!

Ido and I wanted to make the most of all five days in Amsterdam. It is a small city, but we found so much to do that five days simply were not enough. So we finished the evening at the museum, and from there went for a small drink at a bar called Bar The Tailor.
Day three
We dreamt psychedelic dreams
We woke to another day in Amsterdam. It feels like a scene from Alice in Wonderland; everything looks and feels like a dream. We slept so well that the third day clearly had to be a calmer, gentler one

We ate a wonderful breakfast
We went out for breakfast away from the hotel, to a place called Bakers & Roasters Do check whether there is a table first. It is a much sought-after restaurant in the city.

We went to a bar made entirely of ice
We drank cold, good cocktails. You need to buy tickets before you arrive; here is a link Amsterdam Ice Bar. (It was cold.) Come dressed for it.

Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam
The Van Gogh Museum is one of the most popular attractions in Amsterdam. We have been twice now, and we recommend it warmly. For tickets, click here

We ended the day at a coffeeshop called Abraxas
Coffeeshop Abraxas is a pleasant coffeeshop. Maya and I sat rolling a joint. We sat, we laughed, we met tourists from Belgium there, and we smoked something called Bubblegum, a cannabis that has you laughing without pause and without reason. There is nothing like ending the third day in a coffeeshop.
Amsterdam, we are in love with you
We went back to the hotel in the centre, by Dam Square, very close to all the coffeeshops, the red light windows, restaurants and bars.
Day four
After a quiet day, back to running wild
The third day was a relatively quiet one: we walked, drank, ate and smoked. On the fourth day we said we would do new things, the sort we do not usually do

Everything in pink
In the morning we took the Amsterdam train to a place called The pink beach, a pretend beach, with sand, sun loungers, a bar, a roller rink, food, drink, and the whole place in pink. (Press play and see for yourself).

A joint in a wonderful park
We went to a beautiful park with a lake and swans, and smoked a joint out of the movies. A very romantic spot. What can I tell you: Amsterdam is moving. (Press play)

We visited a place called LookOut. The lift to this spot climbed 100 metres in 22 seconds. Then we got onto a ride that left our feet hanging in the air, 100 metres above Amsterdam. (Press play on the video and see for yourself).

Dinner
We went to a restaurant called TOZI, and it was excellent: the atmosphere, the food, the room, the people. A relatively expensive restaurant, and not kosher. You need to book a table ahead.
After the restaurant we decided to see a film. Listen: we walked into the most beautiful cinema we have seen anywhere in the world. It is so beautiful that we arrived half an hour before the film began simply to take the place in.

The grandest cinema we have ever seen!
We loved how the cinema is designed. From the ceiling and the seats to the walls and even the toilets. What a brilliant job they have done. One thing we particularly liked was the seats, armchairs that are very comfortable to watch a film in. And do not forget to buy popcorn, it was so good!
The fifth and last day
There is still time to spoil ourselves a little
The last day was mostly about coffeeshops, and buying cheese and chocolate. We found a cheese made specifically for toasties, and we visited the coolest chocolate factory going!

The best cheesecake we ate

We made chocolate and took it home
Who does not know Tony's famous chocolate? This is not just a shop, it is a factory where you can make the chocolate you like with your own name on the wrapper.

Wow, what a burger
We asked locals in Amsterdam where the best burger in the city is, and several people told us the same thing with one voice: The Beef Chief Directions. They have about 10 kinds of sauce and plenty of cheese on the chips. Warmly recommended.
